They’re discreet, convenient, and easy to use—so much so that they’ve become known as starter kits for people looking to try CBD without having to smoke it.
Vape pens offer an experience similar to smoking cigarettes or joints, but with little to no actual cannabis in them.
This means you can use them at home or even at work without having to worry about using cannabis in front of your boss or co-workers.
At least if your boss doesn’t mind your vaping!
1) CBD Concentration
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing a CBD vape pen is the concentration of CBD in the cartridge.
A higher concentration means more potent effects, while a lower concentration will be less potent.
It would help if you also considered how much CBD you want to take in a day.
If you’re new to vaping, start with a lower concentration and work your way up.
The manufacturer’s instructions for the vape pen may have specific guidelines for beginners or people who are sensitive to THC.
PG/VG Ratio.
The ratio of propylene glycol (PG) to vegetable glycerin (VG) can affect flavor, taste, and strength.
VG is thicker than PG so it produces bigger clouds but might make a dirtier taste on the tongue.
PG produces smaller clouds but cleaner flavors and has been shown to irritate the skin less often than VG.
For this reason, many vapers prefer PG-dominant pens over those with a high VG content.
However, if you have particularly sensitive skin or throat problems then a high-VG content could be worth trying out.
2) Vapor Delivery Method
The first factor you should consider when choosing a CBD vape pen is the vapor delivery method.
The three most common methods are conduction, convection, and induction.
Each has its own set of pros and cons.
For example, conduction vapes heat the material directly, which can lead to combustion if the temperature is too high.
On the other hand, convection vapes use hot air to vaporize the material, which results in a smoother hit with less chance of combustion.
Induction-powered vapes work by using an electromagnetic field to create energy that heats up the oil or wax without ever coming into contact with it.
Because they’re heated through electromagnetic waves rather than contact.
These types of pens usually have higher temperatures than their counterparts.
However, this means that they produce more potent hits as well as being easier on your lungs because there’s no inhalation of carcinogens from smoke produced by combusted materials.
3) Size of Cartridge/Capsule
The size of the cartridge or capsule is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing a CBD vape pen.
A larger cartridge means you’ll be able to use the pen for a longer period of time before needing to replace it.
While a smaller one means that you’ll be able to take it with you on the go more easily.
If you’re not sure how much CBD you’ll need, start with a smaller size and work your way up.
More than likely, as you increase your dosage you’ll also want to increase the size of your cartridge or capsule as well.
You may even find yourself alternating between two different sizes throughout the day.
For example, if you find that a .3ml cartridge is enough for the morning but during lunchtime.
If you’d like something stronger, switch to a .5ml cartridge.
In this case, the second cartridge would be more appropriate for a lunchtime dose of CBD.
Alternatively, if you find that a .8ml cartridge is too strong in the morning and at night you want something lighter, switch to a 1ml cartridge.
If you know from the beginning that you only plan on using a small amount of CBD each day, consider starting with a .3ml cartridge.
As mentioned earlier, many people often choose to alternate between two cartridges or capsules of different sizes throughout the day.
So that they can enjoy the benefits of both types without having to purchase multiple pens or refill their pen twice daily.
4) Flavor
When it comes to choosing a CBD vape pen, one of the most important factors to consider is flavor.
After all, you’re going to be inhaling the vapor, so you want it to taste good!
There are a variety of different flavors available, from fruity to minty to earthy.
Try out a few different ones until you find one that you like.
Light-weight.
One of the things I love about my CBD pen is how lightweight it is.
It only weighs half an ounce, which makes it much easier to carry around in your pocket or purse.
The only downside is that this pen requires a rechargeable battery (which doesn’t come with the purchase).
Price.
The price point for CBD pens varies significantly depending on what kind you buy and where you buy them from.
If you’re looking for something inexpensive but still reliable, then online stores may be your best bet.
5) Manufacturer Reputation
The first factor you should consider when choosing a CBD vape pen is the manufacturer’s reputation.
Please do some research on the company and make sure they have a good track record.
You should also read reviews of their products to get an idea of what other people think of them.
If you don’t find any, then that might be a sign that there are no quality products coming from this company.
Quality.
Another thing to look for in a CBD vape pen is the quality of the product.
Be aware that there are many cheap knock-offs out there with little or no active ingredients in them, so avoid those.
It’s better to pay more upfront and know that you’re getting a high-quality product than it is to buy one at a lower price that doesn’t work well.
For example, if you go with something like the Kiiroo PULSE III but it malfunctions after a few months because of poor construction.
Then your money will be wasted since it’s not going to work as well as it should.
Reputation.
The third point I want to bring up is the company’s reputation.
6) Price
When it comes to choosing a CBD vape pen, price is going to be one of the most important factors.
You don’t want to spend too much on a pen that you’re not going to use often.
But you also don’t want to skimp and end up with a cheap, flimsy pen.
Find something that’s affordable but also well-made.
A good balance would be finding a pen that’s in the $30-$50 range.
Keep in mind though, that there are pens that go over $100, but they are more of an investment as opposed to being used every day.
Battery Life.
The battery life on your vape pen is just as important as its size.
You need a vape pen that will last for at least a day or two before needing to charge again.
Luckily, most quality CBD pens come with long-lasting batteries.
However, some cheaper options might have shorter battery lives.
